Breakfast Prep Tips (Keto, LowCarb)

We have a big family of six! I always find mornings are the most difficult to get everyone "in gear", myself especially LOL

Breakfast used to always be a fiasco, making this or that for each kid and then someone wouldn't wake up until later and I'd have to fix something all over again.

I'm not saying I've got it all figured out, but prepping these few staples every Sunday has helped my mornings TREMENDOUSLY!

1)Make a Double Batch of Keto Waffles

These are sure to please everyone, even the "picky" or "non keto" eaters in your family! My kids ask for these on the daily. And the fact that you can batch make and freeze them is a definite plus to me. My recipe which you can find HERE makes 10 waffles on the Dash waffle maker. I usually double the batch and freeze the second half. They pop right in the toaster and are ready to go!

2)Sweeten your own Greek Yogurt

5 ounces (150 grams) of plain Greek yogurt provides 5 grams of carbs and 11 grams of protein.

I buy the 5% Fat Unsweetened Greek Yogurt in usually the Great Value brand from Walmart. I buy the 32oz and add 1/2 cup of Pyure sweetener and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice to keep it fresh.

You can even get fancy and add banana extract, coconut extract, etc. (You will need to use less since those are extracts and more concentrated)

My family loves to eat this yogurt just as is, or make granola parfaits with my Keto Granola, recipe below! They add in fresh berries and even some sugar free chocolate chips at times!

3)Make a batch of Keto Granola

I don't know about you but I like my granola CRUNCHY! This recipe which you can find HERE is so good! It is great on its own, but even more wonderful if you make a granola yogurt parfait with it!

Made without any grains it's the perfect treat if you're looking for a lowcarb/keto granola sub!

Keep it in an airtight container and even use it as a great snack on the go!

4)Make some "No Potato" Hash

Some mornings I just miss a good hash with some over medium eggs! My two teens love this because they say it's totally just like having a potato hash. I definitely think the key is using bacon grease to cook it all down with. Find the recipe HERE ! Reheat it in your airfryer for 3-5 minutes to have it stay nice and crispy and you've got a perfect breakfast side!

5)Make your Bacon ahead of time!

Get my tips for the best way to cook bacon! Click HERE

Making it ahead saves me so much time. If you're worried about it not being crunchy, simply reheat in your airfryer for 2 to 3 minutes and you've got crispy bacon!

6) Boil Eggs Ahead of Time

I always love having boiled eggs on hand. It's basically the perfect keto snack for any occasion! If we have a busy day planned I know I can grab two of these, toss them in a container and eat them on the go. Having them as an easy breakfast option is definitely a plus. I think everyone has their own tips and tricks to the perfect boiled egg, but this is how I like to make them- Click HERE

7) Egg Muffins

The easiest way to prep eggs ahead of time with add-ins! You can literally mix any combo in to add flavor. Find my easy recipe HERE , feel free to alter it with what meats/veggies you have on hand!

8)Berries in Moderation

Most fruits are not the best fit for a strict keto diet. Berries are the exception!

Berries are low in carbs and high in fiber.

In fact, raspberries and blackberries contain as much fiber as digestible carbs.

These tiny fruits are loaded with antioxidants that have been credited with reducing inflammation and protecting against disease

Here are the carb counts for 3.5 ounces (100 grams) of some berries

  • Blackberries: 5 grams net carbs (10 grams total carbs)

  • Blueberries: 12 grams net carbs (14 grams total carbs)

  • Raspberries: 6 grams net carbs (12 grams total carbs)

  • Strawberries: 6 grams net carbs (8 grams total carbs)

I love having berries washed and mixed in a sealed glass container in the fridge. I can have a few to add to my yogurt and granola as a mini parfait, or just enjoy them as is. Not to mention it's a perfect little treat for the kiddos to have in the morning. My littles love dipping their strawberries in yogurt!

9)Sheet Pan Keto/LowCarb Pancakes

Love the idea of pancakes but hate the indiviudal prep of having to cook each one?? Me too! Enter the easy bake sheet pan panckes that I swear by! Get my easy dairy free keto recipe HERE

Feel free to get creative, add in some blueberries or even sub the vanilla extract for some banana flavor!

10)Premake Breakfast Sausage Patties or Links

It can be difficult to find sausage brands without crazy amounts of added sugars and odd ingredients. We are fortunate to have a local butcher who makes their own clean pork breakfast sausage (among lots of other types of sausages too!) I have found this company online though that ships and they are super good and super clean, check them out HERE

I like to prep these ahead for the week since they take a good amount of time cooking. This way you can just reheat them in the morning (airfryer or stovetop for best taste!) And you've shaved off about 35 minutes of your morning! Not to mention you can add these to the "grab and go" breakfast options!
